Much Ado About Eels

Dear George,
Good evening Mr Randerson, it has been another busy old day here in Theatreland.  Another day of rehearsals.  I've got a blinking cold that won't budge and have been slightly hungover all day after going out and having 3 pints... yes THREE PINTS.  what has happened to me?  However, the weather today has been amazing.  Even as i write this at 9 o'clock at night it's still 19*C.  My train was 2mins late.  On this day in 1983 "freedom" by Wham peaked at number 3 in the charts, and the price of a first class stamp is 46p.

There are many reasons why i have this rotten cold, and if pushed for a main cause i'd say it was stress.  Yes, it's the stress of dealing with all these letters i'm getting about eels.  Just look at some of the emails i have received in the last couple of days...

Dear Dr Dave,

My pet eel has a lot of health problems and needs rest. We have even disconnected the doorbell. So why do people ignore the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the front door and knock anyway?

Yours truly,
Ian, Liverpool

Dear Little Doctor Dave,

My eel and I had a debate about who should pay for dates. My eel thinks the man should pay, especially if sex is involved because "you don't want to give it away for free."
I disagree. I say the man should pay for the first, and maybe the second date. After that, they can agree to alternate.
I have been seeing a wonderful guy for about six months. I'm pretty sure I make more money than he does, but even if I didn't, I don't feel the need to be supported. I don't agree the guy should always have to pay.  Times have changed and my eel, being an eel, is not in touch with the 21st century.  What's the general consensus on the subject these days?

Yours truly,
Jenny, Stoke-on-Trent

Dearest (Dr) Little Dave,

Although I am a 35 year old man, tall, good looking and wealthy I have several bad habits (I pick my nose in public, rarely wash and have appalling table manners) so as a result I have had no sexual experience whatsoever.  Will this effect owning an eel?

Yours truly,
Ian, Manchester

Dear Doc,

I accidentally spilt some white wine on my eel's favourite silk tie. Have you any suggestions on how to remove it?

Yours truly,
Ian, Coventry

...See what i have to put up with.  I'll be loosing my hair next!

Take care buddy,

Quick Adventure...

Dear George,

Good evening Sir, how are you?  I'm feeling pretty good today.  "Why?" you ask... well i had a pretty good weekend, which included a rather restful Monday.

I don't have much time to write at the moment so i'll sum up and fil in the blanks later... it's 17*C this evening and we had a lovely day. the weatherman says it'll get hotter too by the end of the week.  My train was 1min late Saturday, 4 mins late yesterday and, 3 mins late today.  I am now 31 years old and if facebook is anything to go by, i have some of the best friends in the world.  I ran a half marathon on sunday in 1hour and 48 mins.  And a first class stamps remains 46p...

Promise to write in all the details as soon as i can.

Take care buddy,
Yours,
Little Dave

Day 17

Dear George,

Well as the title suggests, it is my 17 day at work without a day off.  I know there may be many of you who will scoff at this, but i say to you.... being a housewife is not a real job!  I jest of course... I am blooming knacked.  I'd like nothing more than to pop my eye balls out and soak them in water, roll myself in a duvet and curl up on the sofa for a week.

Outside it is a lovely bright sunny day.  18*C with a gentle breeze.  This morning my train was 3mins late, and the price of a first class stamp is 46p.

It's been a pretty good day on the whole.  I'm still a little undecided on the issue of what i should do with my life.  A change of job?  Surly i'm too old to retrain for anything else? I guess i'm just feeling sorry for myself...a little r&r will do the trick, then i'll draw up a new list of things to do before i die and hit it hard... well find the easy ones and do them.  I remember that on my old list i had written how i had never watched the sunrise.  I've had ample chance to watch it rise these last few weeks but (and i hope you agree) i want to make it memorable.  I don't want my 1st sunrise to be on a train to work, squashed between a city worker and a man with a folding bike.

Anyway i must dash.  there is much to do before the show opens to the public and there is much for me to do because i have asked my mum to come stay with me this weekend... i'll let you know how that goes.

Take care buddy

Monday Adventure

Dear George,

Well it's a Monday, the start of a new week, new dreams, new horizons... but for me it's just a continuation of 'The Production Schedule'.  It is day 15 of this particular working week, only 5 more until i get a day off... and then i have chosen to run a half marathon *sigh*...

It is night time as i write this, 17*C outside and a little bit cloudy.  My train was exactly 1 min late.  1,200 flee from a forest fire on Ibiza and the price of a first class stamp remains at 46p.

currently the cast of 'Cool hand Luke' are having a tech rehearsal on stage.  These can be very boring and frustrating.  Clearly i'm sat here on the computer doing nothing but at any moment i will get a call to do something and that something is usually something that's not my job or a request so bizzar i can hardly keep a straight face... OR, what has tended to happen to me the last few weeks, someone who has spoken to me previously, will walk passed me and ask someone else who they should talk to about the electrics... i suppose i don't really look like your typical techie.

...But alas i can't think of much else i have been up to... it is a very strange feeling to have worked through 2 sundays in a row.  My mind doesn't seem to want to work, i'm sure i had so many fun stories.  I'm still in 2 minds about the bungee jump...i know i should do it, but i'm scared! i think i'm looking for some thing to aim for at the moment.  some kind of goal.  I feel so unmotivated and frustrated with life... maybe i should make a list of all the things in life i want to do and do them??? i made a list like that a few years ago...i'll dig it out and put it up for you to read.  I know i can cross a few things off the list now but i forget what else i wanted to do.

That's enough for now.  I'm tired and i want to go home.
Take care buddy,
Yours,
Little Dave

An Extreme Adventure?

Dar George,

Well i've made it to another Friday, but alas i'm working this weekend... it is day 12 without a day off.  The weather outside is a rather pleasant 20*C.  My train arrived on time and wasn't too crowed and the price of a first class stamp is 46p

The question i pose to you my friend (and all those who read this)... Do i go do a  bungee jump?  I feel that there are so many things in life i have missed out on, and with another birthday on the horizon i can't help wonder how long i have to do it all...

This will be the year i push outside of my comfort zone.  It's like that old saying:

One's 31th year of being alive is the year you spit in the face of Death

...I'm sure that's what they say... right?  ...Right? ...Anyone?

Dear George,

Episode 8

Dear George,

How are you? I've missed you... please forgive me for not writing sooner.  We've had some glorious weather, I took a weekend away and stamps have remained 46p.

...AND sophie and I went to see Chris for his birthday.  While we were there we recorded a Podcast for your listening pleasure.  We did all ramble on for a while so thanks to some dodgy editing this is our first two part episode.

Enjoy
